The Star Trek: Starship Tactical Combat Simulator (STSTCS) was a tabletop strategy game put out by FASA to complement their Star Trek: The Role Playing Game (RPG), and was essentially the renamed second edition of the three years earlier released Star Trek II: Starship Combat Simulator, as was also indicated by being reassigned the same '2003' FASA catalognumber. But when you add the sheer awesomeness of being transported onto the Bridge of a Starship thanks to the power of VR it becomes one of the most enjoyable games I've played in a very long time. Artemis simulates a spaceship bridge by networking several computers together. Sure it's not the perfect spaceship game, nor is it the perfect Star Trek game. Artemis is designed for anyone who watched Star Trek and dreamed of what it would be like to sit on the bridge of a star ship. Even when playing on your own there is something special about this game. Yet I find myself coming back time and time again, somehow despite the above the actual gameplay feels compelling, the experience of being on the bridge so convincing and the interaction with, what is easily the best community I've encountered in an online game, so entertaining and rewarding. Yes much of the control and simulation are a bit too simple, and yes it's priced rather excessively. Yes they've played rather fast and loose with elements of the trek universe. Yes much of the content there is focuses heavily on combat. Yes they've played rather fast and loose with Yes it's a little light on content.
